Spanish drones law part 2

In the video Ley 2018 para uso recreativo de drones en España de “FPV Competición” we find some general conditions that law binds us to fulfill:

  • We must fly far from buildings and agglomerations.
  • You must fly during the day and under appropriate meteorological conditions.
  • The drone must remaine within viusal range of the driver.
  • You must keep an appropriate distance from objects and give priority to other aircrafts.
  • In a non-controlled aerial zone, flying is permitted, so long as a minimun distance of 8km is kept from airports or airfields.
  • Flying is permitted at night if your drone weighs less than 2 kg and has a maximum height of 50 m.
  • If an FPV device is used, the driver must have a viewer and the drone must always remain within their visual range.

Regarding the weight of drones, there are three types:

Less than 250 g or little drones:

  • It is possible to fly above buildings and agglomerations if the drone does not 20 m in height.
  • If there are no people or buildings, you can fly the drone up to 50 m high.
  • You can fly at night up to 20m high.

More than 250 g and less than 2 kg:

  • It is not possible to fly above buildings or people.
  • You can fly in adequate areas, in a non-controlled zone and while keeping a distance of 8 km from airports and airfields.
  • At night it is possible to fly, as long as there is no flight above buildings or people, at a maximum altitude of 50 m.

More than 2 kg: with these kinds of drones, we find the ones that in general terms are used for professional activities, which doesn’t correspond to this report about recreational usage of drones.

Anyway, drivers recommend having a civil responsibility insurance regardless of the weight of the drone that we pilot. With this information about the Royal Ordinance of 2018 of the flight and piloting of drones in Spain, you will be able to fly almost wherever you want without fear of being fined. Happy flying!
